The Cross River State Commissioner for Works, alongside members of the State House Committee on Works, has carried out an on-the-spot inspection of the ongoing Akreha–Okpoku Bridge and Yache–Alifokpa Road projects as part of efforts to ensure quality delivery and timely completion.
During the inspection, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of work done so far, noting that the projects are critical to improving connectivity between rural communities, enhancing economic activities, and boosting agricultural transportation across the affected areas. The Akreha–Okpoku Bridge is expected to significantly ease movement for residents, traders, and commuters who have endured years of difficult access, especially during the rainy season.
Members of the State House Committee on Works commended the contractor for adhering to specifications and urged strict compliance with engineering standards. They reaffirmed the legislature’s commitment to oversight, transparency, and accountability in the execution of infrastructure projects across the state.
The Yache–Alifokpa Road project, when completed, will open up more communities, reduce travel time, and support socio-economic growth in Cross River State. The inspection underscores the state government’s resolve to deliver durable infrastructure that meets the needs of the people and aligns with its broader development agenda.
